Siamo lieti di dare notizia dell'uscita della nuova edizione del libro del prof. Giorgio Petracchi, Ordinario di Storia delle Relazioni Internazionali dell'Università di Udine -Dipartimento di Scienze Storiche e Documentarie, dove ampio spazio viene dato alla figura di "Pippo":
" Quindici anni dopo la prima edizione, questo resoconto della «guerra totale» vissuta dagli italiani tra il 1943 e il 1945, written in the light of documents from the National Archives in Washington and eyewitness accounts, is extended to 1948 and updated and revised with greater attention to the human story of men and women involved in the conflict. The protagonists of this story is a graduate student in philosophy and a group of his comrades, like so many young people, not heroes. For their choice of civil commitment Italians they may seem today, sociologically and anthropologically different, the "foreigners". The title is a metaphor for a distant time.
